Given that Angela's already been married once before and Lynna's lived on her own for over 20 years, we don't really need a lot of the standard sort of wedding gifts, which are usually aimed at people setting up house for the first time. We have a ton of kitchen stuff already including more dishes than we've ever been able to use at any party. So we've tried to include some alternatives to the usual sort of presents here.
One option people may want to consider in lieu of traditional gifts is a donation towards Angela's immigration fund. As many of you know, Angela is seeking permanent status in Canada. She is currently living in Toronto by grace of a student visa, which expires May 31st, 2004 (but is in the process of being renewed for the summer). We hope to be able to submit our application for Lynna to sponsor her for residency at the end of the summer. The application fees total roughly $2000-$2500, not including any extra fees for immigration consultation services or immigration lawyer services. Any assistance we receive will be greatly appreciated.
